CMT Association Announces Partnership with the Singapore Institute of Management
The CMT Association is a global credentialing body with nearly 50 years of service to the financial industry. The Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) designation marks the highest education within the discipline and is the preeminent designation for practitioners of technical analysis worldwide. Through the Academic Partner Program, the Association endeavours to advance the discipline of technical analysis and promote technical analysis education at colleges and universities worldwide.
Institutions in the Academic Partner Program demonstrate academic rigour in financial courses ranging from quantitative methodologies to behavioural finance, as well as portfolio management and other key aspects of technical analysis. Inclusion into the CMT Association’s Academic Partner Program signifies a solid commitment to students’ career readiness and applied learning.
With this partnership, the two institutions illustrate an innovative solution to the growing demand for student education and career preparedness while advocating for the advancement of technical analysis in Singapore. Technical analysis, which is a crucial part of investment and trading decisions, has evolved over hundreds of years. While modern technical analysis retains its roots in classical observations of market behaviour, it extends beyond pattern recognition to employ ground-breaking quantitative methodologies and rules-based trading-system design and testing.
With this partnership, full-time students from SIM will be eligible to sign up for the CMT program as candidates, apply for available scholarships, have access to CMT Association’s global investment challenge, and participate in various activities, events, and workshops the Association organises.
“The Singapore Institute of Management has long been one of Singapore’s leading private education institutions with almost 60 years of service providing lifelong learning opportunities. Joining our Academic Partner Program underscores SIM’s commitment to equipping their students with technical analysis. This gives young finance professionals not only a critical career skill in alpha capture role, but also a life skill as they navigate the journey of managing their personal wealth. Participation in the program also creates an opportunity for academic research in technical analysis by the robust research department at SIM” – Joel Pannikot, Head: Asia Pacific, CMT Association.
Dr Lenz Tan, Head of Programmes, Academic Division, SIM Global Education, said: “We are pleased to partner with the CMT Association in offering our students the opportunity to apply for this credential. As an institution of lifelong learning, we believe that new knowledge and skills development are crucial for personal and professional growth, and certifications such as these will enhance students’ employability in the finance sector.”
