The maximum period allowed to complete the programme is 18 months 

There will not be any refund should the student fail to complete the course within the maximum allowed period. 

Students who exceed their candidature period will not be allowed to remain in the programme, unless an extension to the candidature period is approved by the University. 

Curriculum

Structure

  • The mode of delivery is blended learning. It integrates both theoretical and practical educational approaches including lectures, tutorials, case study discussions, projects, syndicate work, as well as face-to-face consultative sessions with supervisors for the final-year project.
  • This programme is taught by faculty from RMIT University.

  • For modules taught on an intensive mode: lectures are scheduled over 1 to 2 weeks, 4 to 5 times a week.
  • Classes on regular weekly mode are scheduled over 7 to 8 weeks, 1 to 2 times a week.
  • Lectures are delivered at SIM and students are not required to travel to Australia.
  • Class requires a minimum of 25 students to commence.
  • In the event that the above minimum number is not met, the intake will not commence. Students will be informed within 30 days before class commences.

For Full-time Programme:

  • The average teacher:student ratio is 1:19. 
  • Full-time lectures are typically of 3 hours duration per session with 10 to 15 minutes break, which are held in the mornings or in the afternoons on weekdays.

 

Assessment & Attendance

  • Assessment components vary from module to module. Students are normally assessed by continuous assessments in the form of individual and group assignments, projects, case studies, discussion and class presentations.  
  • Students are allowed to repeat a module once only.  For modules with pre-requisites (if any), students are required to pass the pre-requisities before undertaking the modules.
  • Attendance requirement for full-time: 
    • Local students: 75% 
    • International students: 90% 

Requirements to Graduate

  • Students will be considered for the award of Master of Energy Efficient and Sustainable Building when they have satisfactorily completed all academic requirements of the programme as detailed in the programme structure. 

  • A degree conferral ceremony is held in August or September each year in Singapore.

Admission Criteria

Accepted Entry Qualifications

  • Graduates from RMIT’s Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) programme.
  • Applicants with equivalent degrees in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Building Services Engineering, or other relevant fields will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

English Language Requirements

(a) one of the following where English is the language of teaching and assessment:

  • A bachelor degree or higher within the last 5 years; or
  • The equivalent of 1 semester full-time study of a university postgraduate qualification within the last 2 years prior to the RMIT Program commencement date; or

(b) one of the below approved English language proficiency tests within the last 2 years prior to the RMIT program commencement date:

  • IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); or  
  • TOEFL (internet-based test)
            - iBT: Overall score 79 (with min score 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing), or
  • Its equivalent, as approved by RMIT University.

International Student Induction Fee 

A one-time fee payable by new full-time international students. This fee covers pre-arrival and arrival support, including activities to enhance the international student learning experience.
