‘SIM for Hope’ is back again to spread Christmas cheer to our students and the wider community

16 Dec 2020

The ‘SIM for Hope’ event is back! This Christmas edition to be held on 21 Dec, 12pm, promises more exciting performances from SIM staff and students, and a chance for our viewers to not only join us to celebrate the year-end festive occasion but also to contribute towards a charitable cause!

The ‘SIM for Hope’ event was first held during the Circuit Breaker period in May this year. Aimed at uplifting the spirits of our students, graduates and members of public during a difficult period, the live Facebook event showcased SIM students and staff standing together with the public as one united community in fighting the crisis. Besides featuring student and staff performances, the event had a charity component to help raise funds to support vulnerable individuals and families who were affected by COVID-19. Mr Seah Chin Siong, President and Chief Executive Officer (PCEO), SIM, also announced the launch of the SIM COVID-19 Support Fund and the SIM Resilience Package to provide our students with financial support and boost our graduates’ employability respectively. The show received good response and at the end of the donation campaign period, SIM raised a total of $15,000 for The Invictus Fund, established by the National Council of Social Service to support social service agencies in maintaining their service delivery to their clients during the pandemic.

At this upcoming Christmas edition, viewers can expect more exciting song, dance and instrumental performances from SIM staff and students. Our student ambassadors will also be showcasing a corporate social responsibility project in which they worked with SIM staff to pack and distribute care packs and gifts to senior citizens and children at various charitable organisations, including Fei Yue Senior Activity Centre and Singapore Children’s Society. Besides, Mr Seah will be making a further announcement on financial assistance for our students.

In addition to celebrating the joyous festive period, December is the time  when we take stock of the year’s blessings and pay it forward by doing good to the larger community. Similar to the previous event, SIM will be making a donation of $5 for every view of the show, capped at $10,000. This time, the donation will go to the Children-At-Risk Empowerment Association (CARE Singapore), which helps at-risk youths to succeed in life. SIM has also started a donation campaign for CARE Singapore at
